The Daniel and Joshua Szwarc Memorial TrustThe Daniel and Joshua Szwarc Memorial Trust was established by the Victorian Children’s Aid Society in 1986 following the death of Joshua in September 1984 and Daniel in October 1985. At the time of their deaths, the children were in the care of the Victorian Children’s Aid Society as both were born with a rare degenerative condition known as “Canavans Disease”. The fatal disease retards normal infant development resulting in failure in motor development, gradual blindness and total debilitation. The Trust was transferred to ForCHILDREN (Australia) Inc in 2000 with the objective to improve the quality of care for children with disabilities by promoting research and education. It is planned that an Annual Oration for the Daniel and Joshua Szwarc Memorial Trust will be a feature of the Trust’s program in the years ahead. ForChildren will be assisting in the planning of this event, and further details will be posted on this site in due course. Donations to the Trust are welcomed and are tax deductible. Cheques and Credit Card donations should be made payable to ForChildren – Szwarc Trust. |
